JeppsonEGD offers tailored design services to strategically navigate and interpret unique environments.
Storytelling in spaces ranging from small temporary displays to fully immersive gallery exhibits.
Architectural moments that seamlessly blend a brand’s core tenets and culture to visitors, employees, and customers.
Signage that interprets cultural stories of landmarks, memorials, or places of community significance.
Illustrated route maps, pictographs, and guides that help orient a visitor or customer through an environment.
Inclusive, code compliant signs that apply universal design practices and meet federal ADA requirements.
Our team will create a strategy that includes distinct moments for welcome signage (where your logo can be the hero), directional signage (guiding people through a space with the energy of your brand expressed), and operational signage (functional and to the point). Supporting graphics such as custom murals, photo moments, gallery walls, or interpretive displays add a storytelling layer to the environment. It's important to seamlessly integrate these messages into a space, and we do this with a careful selection of materials. Want the signage to be subtle and complement the building finishes? Need challenging decision points to be bold and noticeable? We'll create a vision that identities opportunities within the space to best showcase your brand's story.
We analyze the full scope of your project and propose a strategy that meets your goals. User journey diagrams map out the routes your employees or customers follow and plan a sequence of sign types (a consistent "sign family") that assist along that journey. Hierarchy of messaging – sometimes with universal symbols or pictograms – plays an important part in communicating priority destinations. Once the user journey and sign family has been defined, each piece of the sign family can be documented in guidelines helpful for future expansion or implementation in new spaces. This becomes an essential tool when planning signage systems for large projects that may span several phases or in multi-building district/campus wayfinding.
We create detailed drawings of all graphics and signage so that fabrication is a streamlined process. Project budget and regulatory requirements should not be a barrier to creativity; instead, they can challenge us to create cost effective solutions that are just as accessible as they are beautiful. Some considerations for good signage design include selecting materials that provides proper contrast or low-reflectivity (avoiding colors that impact users with color vision deficiency), typeface selection that meets all ADA requirements, and custom icon sets designed to be recognizable even without words (making it appropriate to implement and program in locations globally).
Located in Sonoma County, we work with a network of trusted partners in the North Bay and beyond including graphic designers, architects, sign fabricators, and interior designers on projects of all sizes. We are always open to local collaborations.
